This short story tells the tale of a corrupt boxing promotion run by mobsters.The good- The story is tightly edited and crisply written. No overdone descriptions, just straight forward prose.
The bad- I couldn't identify with any of the characters. This was mostly due to the fact that we never "meet" them. This short story does not go into depth with any of them, to the reader they are just names. I found the deaths of certain characters boring because I had nothing invested in them, no preference on who should live and who should die. With better characterization this could be a good read, but as it is I found it difficult to care about the resolution when I didn't care about the characters.
I intended to give this 2 stars originally, but that seemed overly cruel. Its a 2.5 star read for me, so I will round up to 3 stars.
