Britannia 123 AD.
Hadrian’s Wall has only just been started and already there are raids and revolts which threaten to prevent its construction. When raiders from the east manage to capture Marcus and The Sword of Cartimandua then the whole frontier appears to be in jeopardy. The young Decurion, Marcus, is forced to work as a slave far from home and far from his friends. He has to find a way to escape from slavery and return to his home. The loss of the sword might mean the loss of the frontier. An exciting and fast moving adventure and a picture of the savage life in second century Europe.

Roman Hawk The Sword of Cartimandua Book 10 eBook Griff Hosker

This is a good story, as good as the others. I don't remember the Romans having so many problems with uprisings in the South, but this is fiction. The series so far has been worth reading. I know I'm waiting for the next book so I can buy it.
The son of Macro grows up to be as much of a man as his father, but also runs afoul of a witch. She sees him and takes a personal interest in him. The battles are well written, especially on the effects that edged weapons have on the body. Sure, our current weapons don't leave pretty corpses( two tours in Nam showed me what the inside of a body looks like), but the damage with our weapons are usually done at a distance. These edged weapons are used close up and personal. The characters are still interesting and he keeps the story going so you have no problem keeping up. This series is definitely a good story about the auxiliaries and their relationship with the Romans.

Roman Hawk The Sword of Cartimandua Book 10 eBook Griff Hosker Reviews

This books is worth a full five stars. I've had the pleasure of reviewing Mr. Hosker's books and they are all excellent reads. Mr. Hosket takes the time and has a dictionary of specific Latin words then translated into English. In England, many of the present Cities such as York (Ebacorum), London (Londinium), Colchester (Colodinum) and such as well as many of the latin phrases and definitions of Roman Military names which apply to this book. In any event, the Author makes it easier to understand. Many of Mr. Hosker's Books are a continuation of the Characters involvement in the establishment of Britain as "Britannia" which became
a part of the Roman Empire. Thanks for your attention.
Poor editing.
The theme and approach to story has always been well done in this series. The grammar and editing which has been problematic in the past seemed a level above in Book 10.
Another work that's well researched, but needs an editor!
